Schirle Parents and Guardians,
I have some important information for you. The District has discovered that there are some problems with our new platform, Canvas (however at Schirle, our 3-5 teachers were fortunate that Canvas still works for us! Yay!). Additionally, Clever and Zoom are not working smoothly together at this point. These problems are happening in other districts as well. In order for us to allow students to access Zoom, so that they can access their class meetings, students will need to change how they log on.
Students will need to know their login credentials (which some of our older students may remember). If students don’t know or don’t remember, you can find that information on Parent Vue or you can contact your child’s teacher (or the school) and ask for their log on credentials. The login information they will need is a six digit ID number and a two word password. For now, do not use the Clever badge for signing on (as it currently does not work).
Attached to this email, we’ve tried sharing some step-by-step guidance for how you can help log in your student using their ID information.
If you cannot log on tomorrow (Wednesday, @9:10am) to the Zoom meeting, do not worry! We’ll be continuing our Schirle “smooth start” again on Thursday and Friday at the same 9:10am time so you and your student can try then, too. If you’re having challenges logging in, your child’s teacher will be able to help you figure out what is wrong and problem solve with you on how to fix it (or we’ll work together to find someone who can). Also, at this time we are delaying teaching core academics until we are sure that all students can access their class so that nobody misses out. We have changed our expectations for this week and are calling it a “slow start.” This week is all about ensuring connection, greeting your student, getting to know our staff and making sure that we have everything we need to begin the year.
Thank you for your flexibility and willingness to change and adapt with us in order to solve the problems and challenges of education in this new format. We look forward to seeing all of our students online very soon!
