Happy 50th Anniversary Schirle Elementary School!
Families, students and teachers, district admins and principals past and present joined to celebrate Schirle Elementary's 50th Anniversary on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
The evening began with an open house. Families looked through photo books from 1970s up to the present. Students had fun playing games, including math games. Schirle prides itself on having successful 24 Challenge math competition teams.
Students and families had fun at a photo booth. Parent club volunteers sold Schirle t-shirts, along with popcorn. Snow cones from a private vendor outside hit the spot on the beautiful spring evening.
Schirle is a place which feels like a warm cozy home. The instant nostalgic feelings you get once you walk into the front doors, the kindness which echoes throughout the hallways, the laughter we hear inside and outside of these classroom walls - each are special and unique making this school one-of-a-kind.
Schirle Principal Kelsey Daniels
Deputy Superintendent Olga Cobb gave opening remarks at the main event in the packed gym. Dan Johnson spoke about teacher Jim Schirle, for whom the school was named.
Former principals, including Heidi Litchfield and Clinton Gertenrich, made families laugh by telling stories about their days leading the school. Principal Daniels thanked the guests, families, students and community in her closing remarks. Choirs from Crossler Middle School and from Schirle Elementary also entertained the crowd.
What a great event! Congrats to the entire Schirle community.
